Who: The Aluminum Show.
What: “A mix of Blue Man Group, Cirque du Soleil, and the Muppets.”
Where: Atlantic City.
When: Last night.
Why: Because we had nothing better to do, Tony N’ Tina’s Wedding was sold out, and my sister goes back to school next week (Hurrah! The bathroom is all mine!)
Verdict: I will never be able to look at a slinky the same way again. The creator must have been on an acid trip when he/she conceived the show – a bunch of life size slinkies moving around on stage, slithering like snakes, and interacting with one another in a sometimes sexual way. What would the product of slinky sex be anyhow? A keychain?
While the dancing was good (albeit a bit sloppy), and it really is interesting to see how they moved their bodies while in these giant slinkies, the last few segments were far more interesting than giant slinkies dancing, mainly because it wasn’t as creepy. And because it was actual people moving and dancing, rather than giant slinkies that looked like they would turn around and eat an audience member. Oh wait. At one point, they actually did.
Even the balloons, which I normally don’t object to, somehow came together in one large giant robot. I don’t like robots. And I only mildly tolerate balloons. My dreams will never be the same. I spent more time ducking down to avoid the audience interaction parts than I did moving giant aluminum tubes back. Sometimes, I thought they didn’t know what to do so they threw stuff at the audience.
While it was definitely…an original idea, I think Blue Man Group got it much more right. The Aluminum Show is one of those things that kinda has to be seen to absorb the weirdness, but I’d much rather see the Blue Man Group again.

I heard about that show. It seems a bit weird, yet kind of neat. The slinky act is also in a Sea World circus show and it always baffled me.
I love that you were considering Tony n’ Tina’s Wedding.
Last night was my final performance in the Chicago production.
Lol, I love your joke about slinky sex. I’m with you… it would totally be a keychain.
And that’d be why Blue Man Group has running shows in major cities and The Aluminum Show is stuck in Atlantic City? I dunno, just venturing a guess. At least you seemed to have a little fun with the sis before she checks outta town.
Is Tony and Tina’s Wedding that one where the cast members talk to the audience members before the show, totally in character? I think I saw that on Curb Your Enthusiasm. I could also be completely wrong.
I’m so intrigued, I never heard of it before. LOL @ keychain! I too, do not like robots. they are freaky
I think slinkies are one of the greatest creations ever. Though I’m surprised you have such strong opinions on balloons!
wow, how random! glad it was pretty good though?
